Jose Ortega Elementary School Umoja After School Program (Grades K-5)

The Jose Ortega Elementary School Umoja After School Program (UASP) is a collaborative program offered by Jose Ortega Elementary School, the San Francisco Unified School District's ExCEL program and the Stonestown Family YMCA. The on-site program, for grades K-5, provides students with a variety of fun activities, homework help, sports, science experiments, field trips, and healthy snacks under the care of professionally trained YMCA employees from 1:50pm to 6pm Monday through Friday. Roughly half the school population participates in the Umoja After School Program.

The Umoja After School Program offers two registration options for families. The fee-based option ranges in cost per month, depending upon the number of days your child is enrolled. Financial Assistance is available for families who demonstrate financial need. The Umoja After School Program also offers ExCEL subsidized slots. These slots are reserved for students who commit to attend the program 5 days a week, whose families have financial need, students who receive free/reduced lunch, and are identified by teachers as students who would benefit from academic support after school.

For further information about the Umoja After School Program, contact the Jose Ortega After School Site Coordinator Lauran (Stelle) Chavez, email: lechavez@ymcasf.org or call (415) 283-6999.
